I hiked over to my neighbor's hayfield on a sultry New Hampshire summer day to paint the drying hay before it was baled. I loved the bright green of the cornfield and the atmosphere on Rattlesnake Hill beyond. And when I was done, I rested in the shade. This painting was mostly painted plein air, with a slight touch-up in the studio afterward.
